Transition Plan - City of Tecumseh
City Hall
City Hall – The building is used for the Utility Billing Department and the Clerk’s Office. There is also a small meeting room which is used for department meetings. The room can accommodate up to 8 people. City Hall was built in 1890 is part of the Historic Downtown Square which is on the National Historic Register.
City Park
As the city moves toward purchasing accessible park equipment, in the City Park accessible surfacing will be installed under all wheelchair accessible equipment. A paved ramp from the parking lot will be constructed of concrete and will lead to the dirt travel paths.
Community Building
Community Building – The building is used for community events such as wedding receptions, youth sport practices, concerts, vendor exhibitions, auctions and parties.
City Library
The Tecumseh Public Library was built in 1999-2000. The library has 5,200 square feet. This includes a community room. The library is located across the street from the city park. It is a short distance from the public pool. The library is one block from the Tecumseh Manor that serves people that are low income and disabled.
City Swimming Pool
Swimming Pool – The pool is used for community recreation and education such as lifeguard classes and swimming lessons.
City Utility Building
Utility Building - People with disabilities are able to arrive at the site in a vehicle and park in front of the facility. There is a 96” wide parking space designated with a 60” access aisle near the main building entrance. There is also a drop off zone off the street at the end of the sidewalk in front of the building. The gradient from parking to building entrance is 1:20.
