Historic Square & Revitalization

Whether it's celebrating or preserving our heritage, the citizens of Tecumseh are focused on working together to make our city a great place to work, live and raise a family.

CornerStone Building

  • The City purchased the building, materials were donated and volunteer labor is being utilized to refurbish this historical building on the square.

Energy Grants

  • The Community Building improvements and the purchase of Historic Lighting around the square were made with a total of $283,000 in grant monies.

Downtown Mini-Grants

  • Seven downtown businesses have participated in the mini-grant matching program available for facade improvements on their buildings. Click here for the application.

Housing Rehab & Demolition

  • Through state funds and grants, the City has rehabilitated and/or demolished a total of 32 projects since 2009.

Downtown mini park

  • Through a partnership with the Black Hills Energy, OPPD and Tecumseh Federal Bank, the City created a mini park in an empty lot near city hall on the square.

Chamber Projects

  • The City and Chamber of Commerce partnered for the purchase of new holiday banners and lighting for the light poles around the square.
  • Flowers 'round the Square and Avenue of Trees help beautify the square in the summer and winter.

Upcoming projects

  • Proposed upgrade for water/sewer infrastructure for square; will include repair and replacing the brick streets and new sidewalks; grant monies to be used for funding
  • Housing down payment assistance program available for new residents
  • Business retention and expansion funds available for qualified applicants
