Tecumseh City Cemetery

The Tecumseh Cemetery is operated and maintained by the Tecumseh Cemetery Association which is a non-profit organization. The first Constitution and By-Laws of the Tecumseh Cemetery Association are dated April 11, 1876. Of course those By-Laws have been updated and changed over the years, but the one thing that hasn't changed is the main focus of the Association which is to keep the cemetery a dignified and lasting memorial to our loved ones interred there. The Association operates entirely on donations and contributions; they receive no money from taxation. A small amount comes from interest earned from a Trust Fund established in 1985 by the Association and its members.
The Association membership consists of anyone who has immediate family members (parent, spouse or child) interred in the cemetery or anyone who has reserved a space. The Association is governed by a 5 member board of Trustees and an annual meeting is held in April of each year. Notice of location and time of the annual meeting is posted in the local newspaper for all interested members. In May, members receive an annual letter which usually includes reminders of cemetery rules and a report of the financial condition of the Association. If any other important changes are taking place, they would be mentioned in this letter as well. If you are not receiving this letter and would like to be added to the mailing list, please contact the secretary/treasurer.
SPACE INFORMATION
If you wish for the Tecumseh Cemetery to be your final resting place, you can purchase a Right of Burial to a space in the cemetery. This gives you the right of burial in a specific space at the cemetery. This right is not transferable or assignable to anyone but the person or persons named at the time of purchase. Each space is allowed one full burial, one full burial and one cremation or two cremations. If you need further information on spaces, please contact Jim Seckman, Caretaker at 402-335-7610.
